Recruiter’s Charity of the Year for 2018 – ASTRiiD

Since 2011, Recruiter has designated a Charity of the Year to receive publicity and proceeds from fund-raising activities at Recruiter Awards.

With a staggering 40% of the public vote, we are delighted to announce ASTRiiD as Recruiter’s Charity of the Year. The Charity of the year will benefit from activities and donations from Recruiter Awards 2018, supported by Flexr.

ABOUT ASTRiiD (Avaliable Skills for Training, Refreshing, Improvement, Innovation and Development)

Ground-breaking UK charity, ASTRiiD connects people fighting long-term health conditions with ambitious businesses seeking skilled volunteers or staff.

The charity was founded by David Shutts OBE – a former Royal Navy Commander, VP at a global maritime logistics organisation and all-round high-achiever, until a Stage 4 advanced cancer diagnosis transformed him from feeling ‘valuable’ to ‘valueless’. As his health stabilised, David realised as someone with unique experiences, broad talents and a hunger to enjoy the benefits only work can bring, he wasn’t alone. Coupled with an understanding of the UK skills crisis, David saw an opportunity for business leaders to tap into the community he calls the ‘Invisible Talent Pool – millions of skilled individuals who are eager to work but due to illness, have dipped under the employment radar.

By helping these people find meaningful, flexible work with businesses open to new ways of attracting the talent needed to succeed, ASTRiiD aims to make the invisible visible.
